句中用了past continue tense
Past continue tense 其中一個用法:
1. An action continuing at a definite past time
E.g. They were having a meeting at that time.

意思上看似沒有問題, 實際上卻容易給別誤會「當到達歸家時...的感受」
可嘗試在句中加插一些字眼, 例如「about the whole trip」
就能清晰地表達出你地究竟對「什麼」覺得痛苦了
We were all feeling really suffering 「about the whole trip」by the time we got home.

注意: 用「by the time」本身是沒有問題的, 但建議不要與「When」一起使用,
事關兩個都帶有相同的意思。

suffering 之後應該配上「from」以是指出受苦的原由才是正確。We were all feeling really suffering 「from the whole trip」by the time we got home.
