1. before you start, you should greet the candidates and then you can move on to the dicussion topic. mention the background information such as your role and say why you have to discuss that topic as a start.

e.g.
a) hello, everybody, our teacher has asked us to organise an exhibition about the freedom of teenagers at school. do you have any suggestions about...?
b) recently, many of our fellow schoolmates have been talking about the freedom of teenagers. as a teenager, what do you think about this?
c) in order to arouse teenagers' attention towards their own freedom, we are here today discuss about this hit topic. can you share with us what you think about this?

2. make sure you have got good time management. every sub topic should be touched. have a plan in your mind before dicussion begins. some sub topics may take more time to discuss. check the timer from time to time.

3. be polite to each other. smile more and be encouraging. remember you are not enemies and you have to help each other.

4. stick to the topic and don't talk about any irrelevant things. if someone in the group does, stop him/ her and bring him/ her back to the relevant question. don't remain silent.

5. eye contact as you have to show that you are IN the dicussion. you are showing repect, too.

6. if there is a candidate who does not speak anything, you should try to help by asking him/ her an easier question like yes/ no question. if he/she still does not say anything, the marker should understand that you have tried to give him/ her chance. then you just relax and go on with your discussion. never push him/ her too much. maybe they are too weak to understand sometimes.

7. when switching to a new point, you can say:
e.g. we have decided to do A, then what about B?
e.g. as time is running out, maybe it would be better for us to start discussing about B. ok?

that happened to me when i had my oral exam:

i asked for someone's opinion but he didn't say anything, so i rephrased and ask him a yes/no question (e.g. do you think it's a good idea to ....)

he said no and that was all

so i went on to say something else.

correcting grammar in the first response...it should be:"I think we've spent too much TIME..." (however, 'we've spent quite a while discussing this point' may be better')"Excuse me for interrupting"

即係只需佢答yes or no ,再講第2個point

你可以打完場 '' Actually I have got another idea about this point (望一望同學A微笑), ie ........... , do you agree ?

'' I think we spent too much on this point , should we jump to another ? ''
'' Sorry for my interrupt , but I think we should talk about .......... which is more important . ''
'' Let's go to another point . How about ............ ''
