Singular and Plural nouns

英語的名詞有分 singluar 同 plural，絕大部份的plural 是singluar 的變化字。用 -s 、-es、-ies 還是其他字尾是有一定視律的。
Regular plural
大部份 plural 是在 singluar 加字尾 -s，尤其當本來的 singular發音以 voiceless consonant 結尾，voiceless consonant 包括[p]、[t]、[k]、[tʃ] (church)、[f]、[θ] (thistle, thigh)、[s]等等。

但如 singular 發音以發絲音輔音(sibilant)結束如—[s]、 [z]等，加字尾 -es。

以上是大部份的singular 轉plural 的規律，但仍有其他如 -oes 及 -ies rules。
-oes rule
名詞以 o 結尾而 o 前面是一個 consonant，則 plural 用 -oes





hero
heroes

potato
potatoes

volcano
volcanoes
-ies rule
名詞以 y 結尾而 y 前面是一個 consonant，則删去y而用 -ies





cherry
cherries

lady
ladies
但如果名詞以 y 結尾而 y 前面是一個 vowel，則只加 -s





day
days

monkeys

主要是發音問題

like boys:
if it"+es"-->O & I (i.e. 2 vowels together)--->can't pronounce
the same to "radios" and "bamboos"

when you learn phonetics,many similar problems will be solved.

eg : bus s尾 唔通用buss? 為免咁所以buses
