1st should be Chinese (Mandarin)
2nd is English, and
3rd is Hindi
4th Spanish
5th Arabic
6th Portuguese
7th Bengali
8th Indonesian
9th Russian
10th Japanese
11th French

**note: the ranking will be different if both native speakers and
people speaking that language as a second language are counted
e.g. if talking about the most common spoken language, it will be
difficult to say whether it is English or Chinese

you may see that sometimes the ranking of a language is given in a range(e.g. Spanish = 2-4), because the so-called **number of people* is just an estimate, and thus it depends on the research/collection of data etc.
