1. (-27)(+4)-(-4)(+9)-1/5

(-27)(+4)-(-4)(+9)-1/5
= -108 - (-36) - 1/5
= -108 + 36 - 1/5
= -72 - 1/5
= -361/5 (or -72.2)

2.The numerator of 3/5 increases by 20%, and the denominator decreases by 10%.
(a) Find the new fraction.

Numerator of 3/5 is 3
Denominator of 3/5 is 5

New numerator
= 3 * (100+20)%
= 3 * 1.2
= 4.2
New denominator
= 5 * (100-10)%
= 5 * 0.9
= 4.5

The new fraction
= 4.2/4.5
= 42/45
= 14/15

(b) Find the percentage increase or decrease in value.

Change in value
= 14/15-3/5
= 14/15-9/15
= 5/15
= 1/3

Percentage change in value
= 1/3 * 100%
= 33.3333% (increase) to 4 decimal places.

2.(a) 3(1+20%)/5(1+10%)
=3.6/5.5
=36/55

(b) [(36/55 -3/5)/ 3/5]*100%
= {[(36-33)/55]*5/3}*100%
= 1/11 *100%
=100/11 %
= 9 1/11 %
