Hello. Everyone I know called them "pad(s)", no one really use the word "sanitary na*****in" in normal conversation. Unless you want to be technical about it, you can call them by the book. Tampon is not really the same as pads for they are different things even though used for the same purpose. If you ask a girl for "pads", more or less she will know what you are talking about. If you are talking about 衛生巾 then it's "Pads"but if you are talking about 衛生棉條, then it's tampon.
