tightness in chest with alcohol......Does anyone else experience this?

When I have a drink, I'd say within one to two minutes after I start drinking, my chest feels like it has an elephant sitting on it and it hurts. I realize that it isn't dangerous or probably anything serious at all because it goes away, but yeah...it hurts lol.
Don't know how to explain it other than like when you are really sick with a caugh and caugh too long and too hard..how your chest hurts really bad? It feels like that.
Does anyone else experience this? Any ideas? Just curious.

"some people are just stupid....lets see....i do this thing....and it makes me feel bad....so I think i'll do it some more...doh..." Yeah, you don't even know me, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't imply that I was stupid. In my opinion, THAT is stupid. And thanks to those who answered : )

Yes. 2 reasons - it's too strong for you (not necessarily for others) or too much

Alcohol is easily absorbed by the body and gets into the respiratory system which causes you breath to stink, hence the Breathalyzer. You could be having a mild allergic reaction to an ingredient in the liquor which is causing tightness in the chest. That's why the guy with the inhaler is good after using it. This would also explain why the pains go away after a while... As the alcohol soaks into and through the body, the reaction fades.

Your allergic to the preservatives in the alcohol, usually in wine. You can go on-line and get it preservative free.
You have asthma.if your getting an attack just lately, it is because you have a cold coming, alcohol dehydrates you causing the mucus to become thicker, If you have allergy's and a cold at the same time this could easily give you an attack. Get on meds like singular, have a fast acting inhaler in the house just in-case.

Drink lots and lots of water, this will help the pain go away faster, this will also make heart palpitations go away within minutes.

wow, this really helped. Ive been experiencing these episodes for a year now and the Drs answer is to stop drinking. Yeah this may help, but I wasn't sure if it was anxiety or what it was. Also, it doesn't happen everytime I have a drink. But I am noticing that my inhaler is helping.

sometimes i get that (it might be with different types of beer or drinks).

i take a quick shot of albuterol (inhaler) then it's all good in an instant.

I would say that if you don't know why you have chest pain, you better talk to a doctor and not people on Yahoo.
It probably is nothing. But a friend of mine recently passed because he thought the stroke he had was nothing. Think about it.

is it "burning"? alcohol is alcohol so it is an antiseptic. if your throat or something is sore you could feel some burning. best advice is it could be something -- if alcohol effects you adversely its probably better not to drink it.

Sometimes I get heart palpitations.

I just keep drinking, they go away eventually.

Probably not what you are talking about but Some straight whiskys <mostly 100 proof and higher> will burn my throat all the way to my stomach. lol.
