3. A shop keeper sold a calculator for $243 ang the profit percent is 8%. what should be the selling price of the calculator if the shopkeeper wants to increase the profit the three times that of the oringinal profit? (Answers: $279)

4.The marked price of a radio was $128.A man bought it at20% discount of 5% on this price and still makes a profit of 25%.Find the cost price.(Answers: 25%)

let 'a' be the original price of the calculator
=> a * (1+8%) = $243
1.08 a = 243
a = $225

NOW, the shop keeper wish to increase the profit by 3 times
therefore, the new profit should be 8%x3 = 24%
=> a* (1+24%) = 1.24a
sub, 1.24* (225) = $279

4.
Sorry, I do not understand this Question, what do you mean by 20% discount of 5% on this price.

Okies. Answer for 4.The Price at 20% discount, which means he's paying 80%=> $128 * 0.8 = $102.4Sold at $128, means he made a profit of 128-102.4therefore, profit percentage is (128-102.4) / 102.4 = 25.6 / 102.4 = 0.25 = 25%
