3d=12d-48
3d-12d=-48
-9d=-48
d=5(1/3)
So, your step is wrong.

the step is not correct, the right one is
3d/4+12=3d
3d/4=3d-12
3d=4(3d-12)
3d=12d-48
-9d=-48
d=48/9
d=16/3
3d/4+12=3d
3d/4=3d-12
