wave speed depend on fequency?

My physic teacher said that wave speed only depend on the medium, but for light wave, difference colour can be separate by a prism, that is the speed of light waves with difference fequency inside a prism are different, does it means that speed of wave is affected by its fequency?

To 問題少年: I think your answer have some problems. As the light with difference colour have difference fequency, I do not think that they come from the same sourse.

I am sorry, there are some spelling mistake. It should be frequency.

Because refractive index depends on wave frequency, so do the speed, check the reference.

velocity = freq x wave length

velocity depends on medium only.
Freq depends on source only. (Same source, same freq.)
as colour light way have different wave length, and the light beam come from the same source, it results in a different velocity.
