What is a good puppy for me?

I would like to have a medium sized dog when it gets older. Feeding shouldn't be too much of a problem. The exercise should be an easy task and not a hassle, but a park is not located too far from home... The dog's grooming should only take up to 30mins to the max a day. (My parents don't want the dog to shed too much) I'm still in school so I'm not going to take care of it during school hours and my parent's are on the go sometimes which means I have to go with them. Training should be fun, but not troublesum. I want the type of dog that wants to snuggle with me and would protect me if I was in danger. The dog should be an indoors one. Please help me find the correct breed for me! Thank, you!

Go to the shelter and pick one that seems to connect with you. Get one already grown that is already housebroken. You dont sound like you have time for a brand new puppy. So an older dog would be best. Some of the best dogs i ever had or saw have been mixed breeds from a shelter . They seem to appreciate that you got them out of there! You will be saving the life of a dog who will be put down if it doesnt get a home within a set amount of days.

Well maybe you would want a mini poodle, they make good company and don't shed much !

Chihuahua!! I have one and she's an indoor dog. She's great, smart and learns tricks within a day or 2...sometimes up to a week!! Grooming...you don't really have to do anything. And i'm in school still and it's fun to take care of her! my dog, Lili, and I are bestfriends! They're also protective. So hope you get a Chihuahua!!

YOU HAVE PUT SOME THOUGHT INTO THIS, WHICH IS AWESOME. TRY GOING TO A SHELTER. THEY'LL HELP YOU MATCH YOU TO YOUR NEW FRIEND, AND YOU'LL BE RESCUING A DOG THAT NEEDS SOMEONE THOUGHTFUL TO SNUGGLE WITH.

i agree, get one from the shelter. i volunteer at one and i see some great older dogs that have been there for a looong time. luckily, the shelter that is near here does not put down dogs unless they are agressive. if you would want a purebred, i have an older labrador. She is very smart and does need exericse, but grooming is simple and they have a great personality. But the puppies need A LOT of attention and exercise, so an older dog wouild be a better choice. just dont get one from a petstore!!!! <-- NEVER support a puppymill!

Have you ever thought of adopting one from a shelter? I mean they have dogs there that are still puppies even....and that way you will know just about how big he is going to get. Also, he will still grow attached to you and protect you like you said. Since he is "pre-owned" then im pretty sure he is already trained. I got a nice dog from a shelter and he turned out to be the most lovable dog you could ever find. :)
