If the amount of monet Michael had is $MThen Joyce amount = 3 X M=3M
3M - 30 (she spent $30) - (3 X 6) (6 pens, $3 each)=12 (she had $12 remained after spending the money)
So 3M -30-18=12
3M=60
M=20
So Michael had $20
