propene is formed. it undergoes catalytic dehydration, ie, water is removed from the molecule. count the no. of hydrogen atoms. propan-1-ol has 8, but propane has 8 also. propene has 6 only. after removing water (H2O), 2hydrogen atoms should be removed, 2 less hydrogen!
