How to translate 自貶身價 in english writting

自貶身價，在中文也有兩個意思，第一是正面的，是指一個人雖然地位高，但仍然願意降低身份去接觸一些低下階層，第二是一個人常常負面地判評自己。

所以，若是第一種自貶身價，我們可以用”degrade”如”Price Caspian is willing to degrade himself for getting along with the grass roots.

但若果是那人常常負面地貶低自己，我想用”devalue”會比較貼切，因為我在輔導書上也看見作者常常用此字

如”They often devalue themselves and fail to see the important qualities they bring to the world”

Example：
原句: 不要自貶身價，以免被人看輕。
解釋: Do not make yourself a mouse, or the cat will eat you.
