I am using a maxtor IDE harddisk 120gb, and i have 2 SATA socket on the mother board. I plan to buy a new 250Gb sata harddisk to install windows and the old 120gb IDE harddisk for store data. What can i do? How do i know the speed of my SATA plug?150or300(which type)

The plug of SATA HDD has no different, only the transfer rate. If your mainboard only support SATA ont SATA II, that you can use SATA and SATA II with 150mb/s transfer rate. If your mainboard support SATA II, then you can enjoy 300mb/s transfer rate with SATA II HDD or only 150 mb/s with SATA HDD.
