My father bought a box of apples.He divided it into 3 equal shares and gave one share each to grandfather,uncle and auntie.Auntie ate 6 of her share and 24 apples were still left.Use the method of solving equation,find the number of apples originally in the box.

x/3-6=24
x/3=30

Let x be the original number of apples in the box
thus, x/3 -6 = 24
x/3 = 24 + 6
x = 30 (3)
= 90

LET THE NUMBER OF APPLES ORIGINALLY IN THE BOX IS n:
LET THE NUMBER OF APPLES IN EACH SHARE IS a:

(1)n=3a

(2)a-6=24

a=24+6
a=30
so n=3x30
n=90

x=3(24+6)
