Let x be the number of apples originally in the box
x/3-6=24
x/3=30
x=90
the number of apples originally in the box is 90.

thus, x/3 -6 = 24
x/3 = 24 + 6
x = 30 (3)
= 90

Let y be the numbers of apples originally in the box.

(1)n=3a

(2)a-6=24

a=24+6
a=30
so n=3x30
n=90

x=3(24+6)
