Forrest was in the army when he learn to play ping-pong. He plays so well that he get to represent the US government to tour around the world. He received some money from the government for his service after he retired from the army. Then, he bought a boat with the money to become a fisherman because that was his colleauges (Bubba)'s dream during war. Bubba shared a dream of become a fisherman and having his own ship with Forrest before he died in war. Forrest later joined by one of his captain, Lieutenant Dan, and they both became fisherman. They made a fortune during one of the hurriance event because their ship was the only ship that survived the storm. They grew their business together and both Forrest and Lieutenant Dan became really rich. Due to his kind nature, Forrest shared his wealth with Bubba's family after he got rich. Later Lieutenant Dan took over the management of the business and invested in Apple Computer which made both himself and Forrest even wealthier.
