There is no need to solve the problem using simultaneous equations as we aim at finding the larger number ONLY.

Let the larger number be x.
x+x-8=88
2x=96
x=48
So the larger number is 48.

一條和差問題。
公式:
1.大數=(和+差)/2
2.小數=(和-差)/2
根據公式1,大數是:
(88+8)/2
=96/2
=48

x+y=88
x-y=8
