Jean-Baptiste Maunier was born December 22, 1990 and lives with his parents Thierry and Muriel and his younger brother Benjamin in Lyon, France. Jean-Baptiste enjoys playing tennis, football (soccer), and skateboarding. He has recently started to play the drumset and in a recent concert with Les Enfoires performed infront of millions. He likes the Lord of the Rings series and rock music, but hates rap. He finds time in his busy schedule to see his friends from school and is a very grounded teen celebrity. During filmshoots, he is tutored and believes his schoolwork is very important. He says that if his career as an actor ever interfered with his studies, school would come first.

Career
Jean-Baptiste Maunier gained fame for his starring role in the 2004 French film Les Choristes. Maunier plays Pierre Morhange, a delinquent with an exceptional singing voice at the correctional school Fond de L’Etang. The original soundtrack of Les Choristes features Maunier and the children’s choir Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint Marc-Lyons. Christophe Barratier, the director of Les Choristes, chose Maunier for his vocal talent and appearance. Maunier has since left the choir.

In 2005, Maunier also sang in Concerto pour Deux Voix (Concerto for Two Voices) with Clémence Saint-Preux. He also played a young miner, Robert, in the 2005 television series Le Cri.
Maunier also lent his voice to the animated film Piccolo, Saxo et Compagnie, a musical adventure starring musical instruments and notes. Maunier is Saxo, a cheeky character that loves improvisation and helps Piccolo on a wild adventure.
His next feature film, Le Grand Meaulnes, will open in theaters in France on October 4, 2006. He stars opposite Clémence Poésy and Nicolas Duvauchelle. Jean-Baptiste will embody the role of François Seurel, also the narrator of the story. The story details the adventures of François and his friend Augustin Meaulnes (Duvauchelle).
Currently, Maunier is filming his latest movie Hellphone, which is slated for release in 2007. In Hellphone, a teenaged boy Sid (Maunier) is controlled by his possessed cellphone and gets trapped in several interesting predicaments, such as the seduction of a pretty girl at his school.
Though Jean-Baptiste has not completely abandoned singing, it is clear that his vocal career on hiatus for now. He still sings with Les Enfoirés, a chorus of the biggest stars in France that periodically performs benefit concerts.
