閣下想問的應是入藉美國公民而非人殖吧. 根據美國的現行移民條例; 18歲以下,(不包括18歲) 的合資格居民是可免考筆試入藉而絕非21歲. 而且計算日期是以申請批准並已完成宣誓手續那天計, 絕非入境那天算. 很多人考完試合格後; 不理日期而以為已考入藉試便可隨便更改宣誓日期而令小孩要重考和全家重考入藉試. 法律規定完成宣誓程序, 才算真正的歸化入藉. 而人殖 (因生殖)而歸化的就真的以21歲為界線; 你21歲前入美國; 即自動可取美國公民身份, 並可即時申領護照; 無須等5年. 但21歲後進美國, 就祗能等5年考試了.

To become citizen... You need to pass the citizenship exam.
If you have green card and one of your parent become a United States citizen before you turn into 18, you do not need to take an exam. Even this, you still needs to apply and take an interview.
You only need to wait 3 years for citizen if you get your green card because you marry with a US citizen. Other than this, you need to wait 5 years. Both needs to take an English and US history exam,
