Most substances have a pH value of 0-14, but not all. An example is acid mine runoff, with a molar concentration of 3981 M and a pH = -3.6.

For those substances which are extremely acid, we call it superacid (http://en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Superacid ). For a substance which is extremely alkaline, we call it superbase (http://en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Superbase ).

As i know, pH value can be calculate by a funtion y=-log[H] (I have forgotten what H means, but i remwmber it is use to discribe the amount or concentration of hydrogen ion in the solution.)

We know that value H must greater than 0, so, mathematically, the range of y, which is the pH value, can be all real number. But of course, if the pH value is too high or too low, that means there is an extreme proportion of hydrogen ions in the solution, which is not common in our daily life.
