what is the difference between mass & public

Mass:
(1) 解作眾多、大量
(2) 大眾,民眾
e.g.: I wonder if they are truly concerned with the interests of the masses.
我不知道他們是否真正關心民眾的利益。
Public:
(1) 公眾的
(2) 公共的,公用的
e.g.: You mustn't do that in a public place.
你不可在公共場所做那事。

Mass 強調的是很多，大量的民眾; 但 Public 強調的是公共的民眾。兩者是有少許不同的。
