往來北美的國際航班 (不論是否北美航空公司), 乘客都可以攜帶兩件寄艙行李(每件不多於32公斤), 每件尺寸總限為158厘米 (62吋).
*註: UA已更改此條例為每件不多於23公斤

如果只是香港/東京之航班, 乘客可以攜帶寄艙行李重量為20公斤.

International travel baggage information

Customers traveling to to/from the United States and all international destinations are required to have their baggage checked 45 minutes prior to flight departure time. United Airlines's maximum free baggage allowance for international travel is two pieces per ticketed customer and each piece is not to exceed 50 pounds/23kg. The following policy applies to all international travel to/from the United States and all international destinations:

Maximum linear dimensions of all bags: 62 inches/158cm (length + width + height) each

checked baggage more than 50 pounds/23kg and not exceeding 70 pounds/32kg will be charged at the rate of $50.00 per piece.

Fees for baggage more than 70 pounds/32kg or exceeding the maximum linear dimensions vary by destination. Contact United or your travel agent prior to your trip for details.

Baggage must be checked at the airport at least 45 minutes prior to flight departure time.

For United Airlines and many other airlines, each passenger can only carry the amount of luggage listed on your ticket... And the weight of it vary depending on your ticket condition...
Usually for most western airlines, they dont accept any single piece of check-in luggage that weight over 32kg due to health and safety regulation in western countries...
Usually even if airlines say you will have to pay if you are over the limit, they would let you off if your luggage is not a lot heavier than your allowance... And if you have little hand carry, the ground staff would usually let you take a little more...
In my experence, I had a ticket which only allow 23kg of check-in luggage, but since I have only had my laptop and a small bag as hand carry, the ground staff let me off eventhough my check-in luggage was nearly 30kg...

Overweight baggage
On domestic flights, United will consider a checked baggage item weighing more than 50 pounds as overweight. An excess weight charge will apply for baggage weighing over 50 pounds. International allowance, size and weight rules may vary by destination. Contact United or a travel agent prior to your trip for specific charges.
