if it got high melting point, the minimum temperature it can measure will be high, and it cannot measure temperature lower than its melting point as it is still solid.

similiarly, if it got low boiling point, the maximum temperature it can measure will be low. as it will be boiled and cannot measure temperature above its boiling point.
