Gemma Ward was born in Perth, Australia in 1987 and started her model career in the year 2002.

When she was 15 years old, she was discovered in the audience of the "Search for a Supermodel", an Australian television show. At the age of 16 she was selected by Anna Wintour (fashion editor) to feature in the "It Girls" of the supermodel world.

According to modeling and fashion statistics, she was the youngest model on the Vogue cover. Gemma has joined top brand fashion designer shows, such as Dior, Prada, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent etc. Working next to fashion models like Karolina Kurkova, Gisele Bundchen, and Natalia Vodianova.

Gemma Ward is a model. She was discovered in 2002 when she was in the Australian television show Search for a Supermodel, which she was persuaded to enter. Although not making it past the early rounds, the eventual winner being fellow Perth model Nicole Trunfio, her unique look and mesmerizing face hadn't gone unnoticed. This was just the beginning of an international supermodel in the making. She was signed by Vivien's Model Management based in Australia and IMG in New York. She is a former student of Shenton College. Ward was the youngest model chosen to be in a Vogue shoot of nine "It Girls" in the modeling world, which also included Daria Werbowy, Gisele Bundchen and Karolina Kurkova.
Ward has been on campaigns from Prada to Yves Saint Laurent and been in shows for designers such as Versace, Gucci, Chanel, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, and many more. She also has been on magazine covers such as Vogue and W. She is the first model since Kate Moss to be the face for Calvin Klein's perfume "Obsession Night for Men" along with male model Drew Keilt. Recently, she was selected as the first model to appear on the cover of TeenVogue magazine.

Gemma starred in John Mayer's music video for "Daughters". She starred as Heidi in the 2001 short film Pink Pyjamas, directed by Australian Elissa Down. Ward is now regarded as one of the world's most beautiful women by many fashion insiders, having been described at times to have an out-of-this-world look. She currently lives in New York. She is close friends with fellow models Lily Donaldson and Lily Cole.

Ward is the second daughter of Perth GP Gary Ward and wife Claire. Her older sister Sophie Ward is also a model. Oscar and Henry are her younger twin brothers.

我想現在gemma也會開始慢慢減少走show的次數,就好像Daria Werbowy.....向其他方面發展,而gemma就選了先演戲,畢竟gemma兒時的夢想都是當個喜劇演員,她喜歡演戲呢

Ward was born in Perth, Western Australia, as the second child of Gary and Claire Ward. Her older sister, Sophie, is also a model and she has younger twin brothers, Oscar and Henry. Ward was discovered in 2002 by accident when she attended a taping of the Australian television show, Search for a Supermodel in 2002. As she recalls, “I came to watch my friends. I was sitting there in the crowd when the agent from Perth came over. I didn't even want to enter, it was a bit of chance. I was so shocked when I got my first job.” She was later signed by Vivien's Model Management based in Australia, and IMG in New York. She is a former student of Presbyterian Ladies' College, Perth, and Shenton College.

Ward is currently considered a model of the moment by many fashion insiders and fans alike, having been described at times of having an out-of-this-world look. British photographer Nick Knight stated, "Gemma is one of the very, very few models who look as though they come from another dimension." She currently lives in New York and is close friends with fellow models Lily Donaldson, Caroline Winberg, Daria Werbowy, and Lily Cole.

Ward's baby doll-like look inspired a new craze in fashion. Fashion designer Lazaro Hernandez tells Teen Vogue (February 2006), "She looked like no one else at the time. She was this alien, and fashion is always looking for newness." Her look became the popular new look among models. It has inspired a new generation of baby doll-like models such as Vlada Roslyakova, Heather Marks, and Jessica Stam. [1]

In Allure magazine (October 2006), Ward is described as "the model of the moment." Allure's creative director Paul Cavaco knows why: "We went through a period that was very va-va-voom, but now the pendulum has swung back. Gemma is etheral, not earthy." Photographer Michael Thompson says, "She's an exotic blonde, the rarest of creatures." [2]
