= F/x
= F/(0.11-0.1)
= 100F
a)
If restoring force = 3F
Let a be the compression
3F = ka
a
= 3F/k
= 3F/(100F)
= 0.03m
= 3cm
therefore, length of spring = 10cm - 3cm = 7cm
b)
If restoring force = 2F
Let b be the compression
2F = kb
b
= 2F/k
= 2F/(100F)
= 0.02m
= 2cm
therefore, compressed length = 2cm
