Well... Since your return date is not yet confirmed, you will have to book a 1year open ticket... So you latest date of the return trip will have to be made by 23, Nov, 2007...
Having said that, this kind of ticket are usually more expensive as there is no fix date of the return trip... But the good thing is that this kind of ticket, you can change the date without surcharge...
As most airlines do provide open ticket, I would suggest you to check with travel agency for the cheapest 1year open ticket... For Cathay Pacific/United Airlines/Singapore Airlines which fly non-stop, their fares must be rocket high for this kind of open ticket...
So I would suggest you to also check for other airlines which will involve changing at Taipei with China Airlines/EVA Air, Seoul with Korean Air or Tokyo with JAL/ANA... All these airlines do provide pretty attractive fare compare to those non-stop... Sometimes Air China/China Eastern Airlines do pretty good deal too...
