Of course you can go to a language school in the UK to improve your English before start doing your MBA course, however, personally I don't think it is worth doing. Most of the language schools there are very expensive and the stuff taught is not much different to what you can learn in HK. Besides, many Univeristies in the UK provide English support to oversea students with no extra cost. You can make an enquiry to the university that you are planning to go, to see if it provides that sorta support. I have a friend who did an English course in a language school before she started doing her master degree, I don't think she have learnt much from that school, if there is any, it's probably due to more opportunities to communicate with English native-speakers by being in England, so you have to weight the pros and cons even though you may have the time and money to burn.

If you are going there for 2 years, you should have enough time to complete your course, majority of the MBA course last for a year. You can ask anyone to be your referees, I don't think it needs to be your present employer. Universities probably just want to find out why they think your are suitable and capable of doing the course and whether you have a good personality and so on......., besides, they rarely check it out. Most importantly is your academic qualification, and not least, the money to pay for the fee, if you have the required qualification, and time and money, there is no need to worry.
