Basic Workplace English




Who is this course for?
Basic Workplace English is for people who can use English at an elementary level. You can express simple ideas in English, but you do not have a lot of experience using your English in the workplace. You would like to use English in more situations, speak more fluently and make fewer grammar mistakes.
What will I learn?
This course reviews basic grammar so that you will understand when and how basic English works. There will be lots of opportunities to become more confident, accurate and fluent when using of English. Your listening and speaking will improve through enjoyable practice exercises and activities.
You will:

increase your confidence to talk with colleagues and clients in English in a variety of routine situations
understand more of spoken English that you hear in non-routine situations
become more confident that you are making fewer grammar mistakes
improve your pronunciation of sounds (especially those sounds that are difficult for Cantonese speakers).

25 hrs (10 x 2.5 hrs)

Times
7:00 - 9:30pm weekdays or
2:30 - 5:00pm Saturdays

Examination
None (if you want to claim government funding, you will need to sit for a BULATS examination organised by CPBE)

Certification
You will receive a Hong Kong Polytechnic University Certificate of Attendance if you complete 80% or more of your course.
