when the equation has 2 distinct real roots, discrimnant > 0.eg. x^2 + 4x +3 = 0
when the equation has one real root, discrimnant = 0.
eg. x^2 + 2x + 1 = 0
when the equation has no real roots, discrimnant < 0.
