Don't worry! You can start working at any point of time during a month and you will get paid for what you have worked. If a company is calculation salary on a calender month basis (note: company can adopt a different cut-off time), you will be paid on a pro-rata basis based on the number of days worked. For example if you start working on 19 Nov and the company is calculating salary on a calender month basis (i.e. at 30 Nov), then you will be paid 12 days/30 days x Monthly salary (if you are on a monthly salary basis or Actual hours worked till 30 Nov x Hourly rate.
If you want to find a job in McDonald, 7-11 , KFC, etc., you can just simply walk in the shop and ask to see the shop manager and tell him/her what you want. This kind of walk in is very common.
Good Luck!
