Significance of the First World War:
Political
~ Resentment from Germany and Italy----German could not accept the Treaty of Versailles as it is humiliated. Italy could not get what he want and thought that the Allies retrayed them. This led to rise of totalitarianism and outbreak of the Second World War.
~ Establishment of the League of Nation----League of Nation was a peace-making organization trying to make peace after the First World War. However it was a failure and also led to the rise of totalitarianism.
~ The change in balance of power-----Europe lost its supremacy of economy and political center since most powers in Europe suffered great destruction after the war. The US became the most important and powerful state in the world.
Economic
~ Huge repairation-----Since there were a lot of new weapons used in the war, it caused great destruction in industrial and agricultural aspects. As most warfields were in Europe, powers in Europe had to pay high repairation and faced economic problems. Inflation and unemployment was common. The adoption of the appeastment policy helped rising of the totalitarianism.
Social
~ The decline of religious faith----After the war, people extremely believe in strong powers was important to protect itself. So they supported the totalitarianism.
~ Rise in status of women---- Since men went to the front, women had to work in the society. After the war, ability of women was acknowledged and therefore, status of women improved.
~ Improvement of communication---- It is important to have fast and detail communication between army, communication skiils improved while the war. The skills were used in common after the war and the commuication was greatly improved.
