CHOPIN OP.25 no.11 winter wind etude
By the name itself, one can simply think of strong,cold wind blowing
at winter times.The opening quiet melody is march based,with a pair of quiet
phrases that introduce the work, on a motive almost identical to Chopin's
Funeral March.This already gives us a trageic mood.
march-like theme in the left hand is accompanied by a complex and meticulous
network of chromatic notes in the right hand.One has to bring out the hidden
chromatic theme in the right hand as well to achieve a tragic effect.The left hand
march gives power to the music.It is a work with prodigious power, passion and
little poetry.
Dynamics-must bring out ff well in the chords as required in the music,especially
for a brilliant ending.
