1) Let x be the greater number and (x-24)be&nb sp;the smaller number
(3x/4) -2(x-24) = 3
3x - 8(x-24) = 12
3x - 8x + 192 =12
-5x = -180
x= 36
The greater number is 36.
2) Let $x be the amount that he saves each day
5x +70 = 9x+10
4x = 60
x = 15
He saves $15 each day.

1.
First,
The difference beteen two numbers is 24
= Let A be the greater number and B be the smaller number.
= A - B = 24
= B = A - 24

If twice the smaller number is subtracted from (3÷4)of the greater number , the difference is 3.
= ( 3÷4 )x A - 2B = 3
= 0.75A - 2B = 3
= 0.75A - 2 x ( A-24 ) = 3
= 0.75A - 2A + 48 = 3
= 0.75A - 2A = 3 - 48
= 0.75A - 2A = -45
= -1.25A = -45
= A = -45 ÷ -1.25
= A = 36
So, the greater number is 36 and the smaller number is 12.

2.
He finds that the pice of a model is $70 more than his savings in 5 days
= Let the amount is $a and the model price is $m.
= 5a + 70 = m and 9a + 10 = m
= 5a + 70 = m = 9a + 10
= 5a + 70 = 9a + 10
= 70 - 10 = 9a - 5a
= 60 = 4a
= a = 15
So, he saves $ 15 each day.

1.
let X be the greater number and Y be the smaller number.
the first step:
X - Y = 24
Y= X - 24
the second step:
2Y - 3/4X = 3
2(X - 24) - 3/4X = 3
..............

2.
let X be the saved money each day
5X + 70 = 9X + 10
