1. There are a helicopter hovering at a position of 12m above sea-level and a submarine locating at 20m below sea-level.If the submarine descends further until its vertical distance from the helicopter is 40m,how far has the submarine further descended?

The submarine further descends = 40m-(12m+20m) = 8m.
