1. Observation - if you are new to the company, you can observe the behavior of the colleagues. For example, some companies are flexible to the working hours. Staff can report to work between 8:30 to 9:30 for 8-9 hours. however, some aging corprations or factory require staff to take attendance record everyday.

2. Inquiry - Ask Human resources department or colleagues the environment of the company. European companies are more laid back than others, because they enjoy life more. it may take 1-2 days for them to response email.

3 Pre-existing rule - You may check those "unwritten rules" of the company, say like some companies allow staff to take early off for school or training.
