I agree with the people who say Dawn dish soap. I work in a restaurant and I get a lot of cooking oil and grease on my uniforms. I pre-treat the area with Dawn and let it sit for about 15-20 minutes and soak that area with water. Then I throw it in the wash like normal. Works everytime.

You have to put the clothing in a coffee can. Then fill the can up with gasoline. Bury it in your back yard. Wait for 6 months. Then go out and buy some new clothes.

Put dish wasing soap directly on the stain, add a little water fold the stain onto its self between you fingers, and then rub you fingers together. Do this for about five minutes to really get the grease dissolved in the soap. Rinse garment in water, and then wash like you do normally. DON'T MACHINE DRY, instead hang to dry. If they stain is still there then repeat the process. If you machine dry stains they become set--it's just like dying the fabric.

No joke - Dawn dish soap. Seriously, Dawn has been used to help birds get oil out of their feathers after oil spills.
Anyway, pretreat with the dish soap, rinse lightly, then wash as normal. If that doesn't get it out, nothing will.

You don't have to use any specific product. Follow the instructions on the laundry detergent container for "pretreating". If there aren't any, then you a) make a paste with the solids of the detergent and some water, of b) dilute the liquid detergent a little bit. Then, put the pretreatment on the place with the oil and let it rest for about half an hour. After half an hour, take the clothing with the pretreated spot on it and wash normally, according to the clothing manufacturer's instructions or the instructions on the detergent container. It should come out, but if it doesn't, try a few more times.

First, use Shout on it. Use the Shout that comes in the squeeze bottle, not the spray. Completely saturate the area. Let it sit for a while (30 mins.) Use a toothbrush to scrub the Shout into the fabric weaving. Let it sit a while (30 mins.) Then soak the clothing in cold water with liquid Tide (the kind with bleach alternative works best). Scrub the area that is stained. Soak for about 30 mins. Drain and rinse. Allow the clothing to drip dry. If the oil is still there, try the same process with a degreaser instead of Shout. You can get a degreaser at an auto parts store. Before placing the clothing in the washer or dryer, make sure to wash out the degreaser COMPLETELY. Soak it in the sink with detergent and water for about thirty minutes and rinse. Never put oil stained clothing or degreaser soaked clothing in a hot dryer. It could cause a fire.

Or buy a can of cooking oil

DAWN DISH soap, use a toothbrush to scrub it, after letting it sit about 10 minutes. Rule out any thing that takes longer than 10 minutes. When you are ready to throw it in the wash add oxi clean to the wash. And most important, don't dry the piece of clothing that had the oil stain on it until you inspect the area to make sure that the stain is gone...drying will set the stain into the material. My ex-husband used to use Clorox Stain out...it got hydraulic oil out of my clothes even after the stain had been set in.

Dish soap. I accidentally washed and dried clothes with my lip balm in the pocket. An oily stain on my bfs good dress-shirts was the result. My friend at work told me to use Dawn but I used Palmolive (I think). It took a few times though and between washings I let them dry on a rack instead of the dryer. After 2 washings though it all came out. Soak the stains in dish soap, let set a bit, then wash.

try rubbing it with Dawn Dish soap. let it set for about 10 min or so before washing it to let it set in

It is more effective if you have discovered the stain before washing. All you do is pour a few drops or even dip the area of stain into coke for 3 to 5 minutes. Later use your hands/manually rub the cloth in that region.

Try oven degreaser cleaner. Spray it on the oil stains, let it sit for 10 minutes, scrub with own clothing and throw it in the washer. Oil stain will be removed. Good luck!

Goop. It's the stuff that you buy in a tub or pump container at a store such as "Farm & Home" or that type of farm store - or you may be able to find it in the automotive section of your local "Wal-Mart", "K-Mart" or such. Mechanic's use it to get grease off of their hands, etc.

I keep a pump container of it in my laundry room. It takes out cooking oil splatters, grease, gum (out of hair too), ink, grass stain, etc.

Dawn Dish soap Original scent is the best way to go. I agree with the posts that say pretreat for about 15 minutes or so and then wash in cold water. Check the spot before putting it in the dryer. Once an artical of clothing hits the dryer with a stain in it, the stain stays forever. I have a young son, I'm constantly pretreating his clothes for just about every known soil he can get into. Dawn is the economy Shout....You can usually get a bottle of Dawn at the Dollar store...Shout usually runs about $3.

The way to take oil out of any clothe is by covering the stain with baby powder, it absorbs it.
This is a trick that I have use many times, be sure you do it before you wash it or send to laundry.
PS let the pwder on over night and repeat if there is still traces of oil.

There is a hand cleaning lotion called Gunk. I use it in the laundry room for all sorts of greasy stains
2006-07-18 3:43 pm
If the oil is still wet, pour talc or baby powder on it. Let it soak up all the oil. Do not rub it in or try to wipe it off. Once it dries, shake off the powder. Then, a combination of laundry detergent and hydrogen perioxide (sp?) can be applied to the spot and let soak. Before it dries completely, wash in cold water with regular detergent.

It is quite common for those that use candles to have problems with removing candle wax stains. The wax from a candle is a very difficult type of stain to remove for a number of reasons.

If you love candles but have given up on using them because they cause such a mess, it is time for you to consider a few better options here.

No matter if you just had a few drips of wax land on your carpeting or watched the entire candle fall over onto your prized table cloth, you can get the mess cleaned up as quickly as possible.

Here are the Basics Of Wax Removal. . .

First of all, you need to get to the stain as quickly as possible. If you get to the wax before it hardens, it will clean up much easier.

Secondly, wet candle wax can be more effectively cleaned up because it has not reached the deep carpet pile yet. The deeper it gets, the harder it will be to clean up completely.

If the wax is wet, you can apply a bit of pressure with a clean terry cloth to the area. Keep moving the cloth to a clean area. Most of the wet wax will soak up into the cloth rather than into the carpeting. Make sure that you do not rub the area as this will cause the stain to set further into the carpet, making it that much worse to get out.

If the candle wax has hardened, the first thing you need to do is to use a dull knife or other dull object to scrape off the excess candle wax from the carpet. Most of the wax will come off in this manner. Be careful not to smash it down even more so, though.

If this does not remove all of the wax, then try the iron method.

Here, you will simply place a few layers of paper towels that are clean, dry and white, to the area. Then apply a warm iron to the top of the towels. This will cause the candle wax to melt just enough to be absorbed into the paper towel. Keep moving the paper towels to absorb more and more of the wax. You can keep doing this, or stop and try to scrape off additional wax

u can use MUD (not the wet mud, dry mud). Put lot of mud on the place of oil and then wash the clothes normally as you would do. It should take out the oil. Dont use SAND. Sand is useless.

2006-07-18 4:28 am
If the oil is fresh on your clothes and you can't wash right away...immediately sprinkle salt on the spilled area. The salt sucks up the oil from the clothing. You will still have a spot but it won't stick as much. and that will give you some time to get it to the washer.

I think palmolive dish detergent, esp. the one saying grease remover, tends to work a bit.It helps to put it on the spot(s) as soon as it happens, rub it in,let it sit for a while, then put it in the washing machine. It does tend to work. But I don't know about large messes or delayed treatment,or every type of fabric, but it works for most cotton fabrics.Try it and see.

Depends on the type of oil and to what level it has been used. Some will respond to a soak in warm, detergent rich water. A steam cleaning can help as well. I'd try a combination in that order.

soak the item of clothing, like saturate it, in cooking oil overnight. Then in the morning, place in washing machine again and again, maybe 3 complete cycles. Dry and viola no more cooking oil stain.
2006-07-17 4:09 pm
You can apply petrol of the stained area
2006-07-17 3:52 pm
If you have already washed and dried this item with the stain on it you may be out of luck as drying will have set the stain into the fabric. If the stain is fresh saturate it with Sunlight dishwashing Liquid and rub into stain. Rinse under hottest water that the garment will handle then hang to dry. When dry, inspect garment for stain. If the stain is still slightly present repeat. Eventually that spot will come out. Important part is to NEVER dry garment in the clothes dryer until the oil spot is completely removed.
2006-07-17 3:30 pm
The same way as you would remove wax or candle drippings. You place a wax paper over the stain and iron it.
2006-07-17 3:27 pm

2006-07-17 3:06 pm
Apply cornstarch to the spot to absorb greese
Or soak in lukewarm water 1/2 teaspoon dishsoap (Dawn) and 1 teaspoon vinegar
2006-07-17 2:51 pm
try soaking it in dishwashing detergent that takes out grease. Or you could try rubbing a bar of ivory right on that spot and soaking it in warm water. I've had good luck with either of those methods.

I swear by Goof Off, followed by an overnight soaking in OxyClean, then laundering in hot water with Tide with Bleach. It's amazing how much stuff that combination can get out.

The Queen of Clean recommends:

Combine 1 tablespoon glycerin, 1 tablespoon liquid dishwashing soap, 8 tablespoons of water. Work the solution into grease adn oil stains. Let sit a few minutes, flush with water and laudner as usual.

She also recommends using Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover to remove greasy spots on clothes, then launder in the hottest water for fabric type, using a long wash cycle adn adding 1/4 cup of washing soda along with your detergent.

Another of her ideas is to spray with WD-40 lubricant and wait 10 minutes. Work in undiluted dishwashing liquid and launder as usual.

One more: Go-Jo Waterless Hand Cleaner can be worked into the spot, then launder as usual.

Hope you get the stain out!

2006-07-17 1:29 pm
Here is what you use!! It works EVERYTIME>.....

Spray the spot (s) with WD40. Let it sit for a minute or two, and then wash the garment. HANG IT TO DRY. Do NOT put it in the dryer. (The WD40 will work even if you have already dried it when you tried to get the cooking oil out, but DO NOT dry it after you have used the WD40).

Let me know how it turns out. I keep a can of WD40 at my washer and dryer. It is an EXCELLENT cleaner. I have 4 children, and their clothes (thanks to WD40) are stain free.

Goo Gone....it gets friggin EVERYTHING out.
2006-07-17 11:16 am
Go to your cleaning isle at your super market and buy Lestoil. Rub it on the stain and put some in your wash with your regular detergent. It also works on tar, pine pitch , motor oil and food stains. Pretty much every stain I have ever seen including pvc cement.
Good Luck

I have always found that Dawn dishsoap works
great, just apply directly to spot, and rub vigurously, and add water(warm) as you go,and that should work perfectly! Ladies if your Man is a mechanic,it works great just add a little to
each wash cycle, with your laundry soap! You will be surprised!!

Simple. Just soak your clothing in water until it dries. The time of drying is based on how many oil spilled on that said clothing.

Rinse with hot water, then wash with plenty of soap and water.Chemicals in most common soaps react with oil to turn it into soap. Check out the details below.

Let the man do the cooking.
2006-07-17 10:22 am
get yourself some brown paper, the kind they make paper bags out of or thin postage brown paper, and a hot iron.place the non shiney side on the stain, and press the iron on the top, keep moving the paper to a clean piece, and repeat, the grease or oil will cling to the paper

I would try straight rubbing alcohol first to break the oil down. Then I'd try a shout stain stick, and scrub it aggressivly under cold water.
2006-07-17 10:01 am
Oil in cloths can be removed using normal washing soaps. But before wash pour some hot water on the oil mark and apply soapt. use ur old tooth brush to rub.
2006-07-17 9:08 am
French chalk, blotting paper (get at an art store) and a low iron will also work

Sard Wonder Soap. Wet the fabric with cold water, rub in the soap and scrub with a nail brush. Leave it for a day or two and wash as normal. You may need to repeat if it's an old stain
2006-07-17 8:50 am
1. sprinkle talcum powder on stain to absorb oil. 2. iron with low setting. 3. shake out powder 4. take to drycleaners.
2006-07-17 8:02 am
throw the clothing out of the house. stain goes with it.
2006-07-17 7:50 am
Place a folded paper towel (needs to be thick to absorb oil) under the stain. Then put dishwashing liquid on the top of the stain and scrub with wet cloth or wet paper towel. This will push the stain through the clothing and into the paper towel under the stain. You may have to replace the paper towel under the stain a couple of times to get all of the oil out.

The only way to get oil out is to neutralize it. The only thing that does that is water ... lots and lots of water. Think about it ... oil rises to the top of water. Soak your clothing in plain water for a few days. The oil should come to the top siphon the oil off with a short end of hose. Soak it for a few more days and repeat. When there's no longer any oil on the surface of the water, wash it in a strong detergent with washing soda added. Good luck.

the best way to rid clothing of cooking oil is to put shampoo on the oil spot. The chemicals in shampoo are made to strip natural oils from hair and those same chemicals work on any natural oils like cooking oil or grease from foods like hamburgar or chicken.

I would soak it in hot water with oxyclean in a bucket or other container. Soak it all night, 24 hours! Then wash as usual. If that doesn't work, repeat the soak! Good luck!

is this a joke? I am a dishwasher. I put my work pants in the washing machine, and they come out cooking oil free.
2006-07-17 6:40 am

This has worked for me before put undiluted eucalyptus wool wash on the stain and leave for around 10 minutes then wash as normal. This works for a number of stains like red wine and blood.

Spray the stain with oxy clean. Let it sit for about 10 min. and wash it like you usally do. It's happens to me all the time.

try a combo of baking soda and selzter. its wat u use to get grease out so it will probably work for cooking oil as well
2006-07-17 4:56 am
Try DAWN dish soap first by applying it to the stain, rub hard getting all threads drenched in the stuff, then launder as usual. If that doesn't work then...WISK IT
I Use Wisk laundry detergent for everything! And 9 times out of 10 its taken out by it. Even set in stains. I recommend you apply it to the stain rub it in and let it air dry. Then throw it in the wash as normal. If that doesn't work spray a little bit of GOOF OFF on it (automotive section of your local Walmart), then wash.

I have found that clear clarifying shampoo works the best. It is designs to help remove oil from your hair and does the same on clothes. Mix it with a little bit of water and saturate the stain, let it sit for about five minutes, and throw it in the washer, repeat if neccessary!
2006-07-17 4:18 am

2006-07-17 4:13 am
If the cloth can withstand hot water, then most of the oil would get dis-lodged from the cloth when immersed in hot water with a few drops of lemon juice scrubbed on the stain(watch out colour-fastness) and with some soap (detergents.. group), since oil also 'surfaces' in water like the detergent-propped-dirt- particles .

2006-07-17 2:22 am
Wash your clothes in hot water so that the oil will rise.. Let you clothes sit in the hot water while in washing machine.. Then put some detergent in there to make sure you try to get the stain out of your clothes..

Get a potato, cut out a small piece in the shape of a french fry. Then set it on the cooking oil stain and use a hair dryer to heat it up.

Then eat the fry and enjoy your nice clean clothing.
2006-07-17 2:05 am
you don't
2006-07-17 2:05 am
you can't, even if you intially get it out, it will still leave a dark stain once dry.
2006-07-17 1:42 am
You should use purple power because why I say that is because it takes grease, or oil out of anything because my sisters husband worked driving wrecker and that is what my sister used to wash his clothes and and grease that was on them came out instant and also if you have anything else with stains on it you can also use it on that also that is the only stain remover that my sister owns in her house so that would be your best bet.
2006-07-17 1:40 am
I use Dawn dishwashing liquid. Just rub some on the spot before washing. I also us it to wash my hands if they get any type of grease on them.

didn't know about the baby powder remedy, but since lots of people mentioned it I'd say... go for it. thou, i was going to say just hand wash then put i the sun to dry naturally. this way the sun should dry out the grease on your fabric.

try spraying hair spray on it.that should do it
2006-07-16 11:49 pm
try putting some dawn dish soap on the oil stain and let it sit for a few minutes before putting it in the washer. It helps to break down the grease from the oil. Also, check Heloise's column in the newspaper.
2006-07-16 11:42 pm
buy another one.
2006-07-16 11:35 pm
I would say to put talcum power on the stain first and then wash in cold water.

the new Tide stain pen works great if it hasn't been ther long(an hour or less). but you can still get it out without that.

very simple. use waterless hand cleaner. you know, the kind guys use when they get all greasy working on the car...(it's real cheap...buy it at the dollar store, 99cent store, etc.) one brand (the one i have) is called GOO. you can also get it at auto parts stores and places like walmart, etc.

anyway, it's easy. just take a little on a toothbrush and brush it in. no need to let it sit. just throw it in with your next wash load. it should come out nice and clean. good luck. (i have had to repeat it once in a while, but only when it has sat for a long time)

Baby powder. Shake some on the spot and grind it in (like they did with the detergent in the "ring around the collar" commercials) make sure you rub it in really good. DO THIS ASAP!!! Then brush off the powder and wash as usual.

I got canola oil out of a brand new shirt this way.
2006-07-16 10:29 pm
I don't think you can but maybe something like spray and wash or shout might help. Also sometimes there are special things made to take certain stains out I know there is one for blood, and also one for ink, so there might be one for oil as well. I got that at Target.

Remove as much excess oil as possible with a dull knife or spoon.

Apply 3-5 minutes to allow it to go completely through the fabric.

Stain Removal Step 3.

Use liquid detergent to rub through the stained fabric.

Stain Removal Step 4.

Allow the garment to sit for a few minutes.

Stain Removal Step 5.

Wash in the hottest water safe for the fabric. Check tags to determine what water temperature to use for washing

I worked in a restuarant.. and it's a B**** to get out, generally there is something called 'goof off' i think, and it works good. Also you can use any degreaser from the store.

Most of the time though the best thing to do is treat the spot and then soak it in laudry detergent booster overnight.

2006-07-16 7:41 pm
you do it with very hot water and marsilia soap make sure that the water is very hot and put it right on the spot then add the soap.
2006-07-16 7:30 pm
one of three ways - which I have found work:
(1) if it is a dry clean item, do not attempt to clean it at all- no water or anything. Take to the drycleaners and show them the spot and if you remember tell them what it was that caused the stain (so they can pre=treat with correct things).

(2) If it is washable, sponge the stain with dry-cleaning fluid (AFTA Dry cleaning fluid or similar and most hardware store carry this one or other brands) and rinse. Rub liquid (not diluted) laundry detergent into the stain and wash as usual.

(3) last but not least, use DISHWaSHING soap (not the machine type, but the one you hand wash dishes with) . Power directly onto spot immediately. Just leave there until you are ready to take the garment off. Wash in COLD water in washing machine as usual (adding the proper soap this time). The soap for dishes also has a grease cleaning ingredient and that is what is working on your stain.

The above all work for lipstick and other greasy stains.
2006-07-16 7:30 pm
go to a drycleaner. home washers don't remove the oil. Drycleaners do because they use industrial solvents.
2006-07-16 7:16 pm
Wash the cloth.
2006-07-16 7:15 pm
Pour a small amount of shampoo without conditioner on the spot, let it sit for 10 minutes, rub and wash. This also works for that old ring around the collar, a body oil.
2006-07-16 7:12 pm
the way to get cooking oil out of clothes is: if just happened put a bit of powder talc on it, the talc will absorb the oil, later you can just use dish washing detergent like Palmolive, Dawn or any other.
2006-07-16 6:59 pm

2006-07-16 6:52 pm

Sometimes the oil gets into the fabric and shows up even after a wash. Baby powder will soak it up.
2006-07-16 6:42 pm
you can.t normally but if you scrub the stain with baking soda & water paste it might come out if you are very lucky.
2006-07-16 6:39 pm
There are many laundering products that work fine. SPRAY AND WASH is good prewash spray that we use to removes stains. But you might have good luck just using a combination of your current washing liquid and a color safe bleach like Clorox II . Pour these in small amounts directly onto the spot and rub good and then wash immediately in a regular warm cycle. Works tons of ftimes for us. And my two girls spill and splatter plenty...... '-))
2006-07-16 6:33 pm
Scrub with Dawn, wash in as hot water as the item will stand, and add some "Lestoil" (it's by the pine-sol) to the laundry.
You might have to "Dawn" it more than once.
2006-07-16 6:20 pm
The guys who worked in the Oklahoma oil fields use to come home with coveralls covered in oil. They would first wash them in the washer using Simple Green instead of soap and then a regular wash.

For smaller stains, just soak good with diluted simple green and then rinse. Wash as usual and the oil is gone.
2006-07-16 6:10 pm
Spread out the portion that has cooking oil stain onto a folder newspaper. Also, cover the portion with another folder newspaper (say 2-4 sheets both sides of the stained cloth)

Take a hot iron and press on the upper newspaper. All the grease gets blotted out into the lower newspaper and the one on top leaving the clothing clean.

There is a product in the automotive section, called super clean. It is normally in a purple bottle. I use to use about a cup in a load of laundry, when I washed my now ex-husbands clothes. He does mechanic work and it took the majority of the grease out, so maybe it will work for you.
2006-07-16 12:45 pm
I used this and it worked great... sprinkle a large amount of white powder on it....and leave it on it until the oil absorbs the powder keep sprinkling the powder every now and then..and let it sit for a day then wash it the next day with a regular detergent...it will disappear..
2006-07-16 12:45 pm
Try soking it in vinigar first then rinse it out before you wash it then wash it with Tide, And then if that does not work try lemond juice that you buy in the bottle that should cut the greese or cooking oil.

Dove soap works really well - use it as soon as you spill the oil on your clothes. It has worked every time for me, and I spill things a lot! If not, use washing-up liquid; it's designed to lift grease off things.

This is easy!! Before washing that article of clothing, iron it first... All you have to do is sprinkle the affected area with powder... Under the stain, put a clean sheet of bondpaper. Put another sheet of bondpaper over the powder and cornstarch, then iron over it. Check once in a while if the paper and powder are filled with oil. The powder will become a little solid, like they become one big patch of powder/cornstarch... that means you have to change the powder/cornstarch again. Repeat the process until stain comes off....

That's the time you wash it...

The powder actually absorbs the oil and so does the paper... Try it..

2006-07-16 5:13 am
If you act right away, place a brown paper bag on top of the stain and run an warm iron on the bag. The oil will soak the paper bag and be out of your material

let the stain soak in coca-cola for about 30 min. before you wash it then wash in cold water. (just wouldn't recommend putting coke on white clothes)
2006-07-16 5:04 am
COKE (regular) can be effective in removing the oil stains very effectively.

It is more effective if you have discovered the stain before washing. All you do is pour a few drops or even dip the area of stain into coke for 3 to 5 minutes. Later use your hands/manually rub the cloth in that region.

Soak in soap and rinse clean before you subject it to regular wash. Repeat if necessary.

Ashlyn, Hello. You can use Dawn dish soap or you can get Goop hand cleaner from wal-mart in the auto section. I have seen it there. If its not there you can order it from harbor freight tools on line( harborfreighttools.com) The women in my house use it with a toothbrush and scrub it on oil staines and other stains and let it sit then put the clothing in the wash and they come clean. I do know that my sisters never wait around when they get an oil spot on their dress or blouse. They head for the kitchen and put dishsoap in the spot, scrub it in and wipe it out with a clean dish towl that they wet a little. I hope this info helps you. Regards,Ammoconfidential

Brake Cleaner. I have tried Everything...nothing works as well as Brake Cleaner!!!! I am not trying to fool you!!! I had a shirt that I wore while making bacon. I had oil stains everywhere. It was one of my favorite shirts but it was kinda ratty so I thought i would experiment. you might want to try " Power Packed Orange, all purpose cleaner and degreaser" I think you get at Wal Mart in the automotive section. Spray it on rub in with a nail brush, or similar, let it set for a bit then wash. You may have to repete a couple of times to get really bad stains out, but it really works, I work with comercial fryers and that grease gets everywhere. I use it all the time

I pretreat with Tide or Wisk laundry detergent. Rub it all over the oil stain. Let sit for awhile, 15/20 minutes, then wash in HOT water. Always works for me. I will try the Dawn too sometime. Everyone seems to say that. Good luck. Sometimes you just have to try different things. Mean Green Spray cleaner works good on grease stains too.

Cheapest way is spray some flour with drops of water, rub it hard for a while, then wash it with hot water...it depends on what kind of material...

Other way to do it is cook it in a deep pot of hot water. Oil will stay on top. Then, use paper towel to take oil out before taking cloth out...

Listen there are two ways:
1- use an insecticide by spraying it generously an leaving it for abou 10 minutes, it'ss dissolve the oil...
2- Put a toilet paper on both sides of the stain and "Iron the cloth with hot iron, as the oil melts, change the toilet paper and repeat till it's clean...
2006-07-15 11:47 pm
I heard if you rub talcum powder on the stain, it draws the oil out

Shout, Oxyclean, and wash.
2006-07-15 9:28 pm
Use Shout and let it sit in the refrigerator over night. Next wash it in cold water then let it air dry. Do not put it in the dryer it will only set the stain. If it doesn't come out you can try it again as long as you haven't put heat on it because that will set it and it will never come out.
2006-07-15 9:28 pm
It is very difficult to do. I recommend you take it to the dry cleaners. But call before you go, because most of them will not gurantee results either.
In the salon we would use hair spray, and dawn dish washing liquid. Then wash the appearel by hand. After soaking it for ahwile,
This all depends on fabris type color fading etc.
If it is white, you can use bleach, after th above reccomendations.
2006-07-15 9:25 pm
I dont think it will cuz that happend to me and it didnt come out
2006-07-15 9:24 pm
I just learned this trick a few weeks ago at the nail salon. You put baby powder (a lot) on the oil blot. Leave it on there for awhile and it eventually draws out the oil stain. Then just brush off the powder and wash it or dry clean. Good luck :)
2006-07-15 9:24 pm
You can try a detergent with enzymes, but make a color try at a non-visible spot on the piece of clothing.
2006-07-15 9:19 pm

Hey Ashley,
I've found that the solvent "Simple Green" takes out any oil or protein based stains. Even tar! Just spray it on the stain and let it sit for a minute or two and then toss it in your washer like normal. You can get it in any mega mart or auto parts store.... And it's cheap. Hope that helps.

2006-07-15 8:17 pm
any kind of organic degreaser or organic cleaning detergent.

Dawn dish liquid is also very good, actually, it is what they used to clean up the Prince William Sound oil spill.

They had a segment on the Today show on July 11th. about how to get stains out. Grease was once of them and I assume that that would fall under the same when it comes to getting it out of clothing. Try looking at www.today.msnbc.com. It is on there in a video. I just looked and they say Corn starch or talcom powder and then remove the powder and wash. Good luck.

PRETREAT WITH DAWN DISH SOAP...IT HAS TO BE DAWN BECAUSE AS THE COMMERCIAL SAYS....IT BREAK UP GREASE AND ITS TRUE...THEN WASH AS USUAL
2006-07-15 6:03 pm
To get oil out of clothing, I pour a little detergent directly on the oil, rub it in, let it sit for a few minutes, then toss it in the washer in as hot a water as the material can take. It may take a couple of trys but in the end, it usally works.

hi the best way is to use vanish liqued soup if u heared about it
its great
2006-07-15 5:19 pm
When i cook i sometimes get oil splatters on me so i know what to do. Straight away put plenty of baking soda or talcom powder or baby powder on it. It absorbs it and then you wash your clothes as usual and you'll find its gone.
2006-07-15 5:17 pm
Put washing up liquid onto it,rub gently, leave for a couple of minutes. Wash as usual. Works every time!!
2006-07-15 5:16 pm
For immediate rescue, try any powder, if u have baby powder handy it's better, this absorbs oil and then makes it easier to wash. Otherwise, dawn and shout r best options.
2006-07-15 5:12 pm
dish washing detergent. pour it over the stain and wash normally. hope this helps!
2006-07-15 5:07 pm
try washing it by hand with dish soap. Since it's made to cut grease it should work, I got oil paint out of my clothes with it.
2006-07-15 5:06 pm
try mixing handy andy, wim, and dish wash liquid together and then rub it in to the stain.
2006-07-15 5:05 pm
use zout
2006-07-15 5:01 pm
cooking oil is the worst thing you can get on fabric, especially cotton...soak in dishwashing detergent about strength you wash dishes in...allow about 20 minutes. Rinse well and hope for the best. Wash in washing machine. Once dry WITHOUT scented dryer sheets, smell clothing...if it stills smells rancid, toss it...And, there may be fading of color due to treatment. I have found cooking oil, once in cotton, to stink forever more. Good luck
2006-07-15 4:59 pm
i hear the product "oxy-clean" works very well.

don't use cheap detergents. get a good brand like tide, pre-treat the stain before laundering.
2006-07-15 4:58 pm
I stumbled upon a great laundry pre-treat--a product called Zout. Works on my husbands motor oil stained clothes so hopefully it will work for cooking oil. Good luck!
2006-07-15 4:56 pm
try it on an inconspicuous part of the clothing, but i'd try dish detergent. If the stain is particularly stubborn and you have one of those plastic pot scrubbers for use on teflon cookware, you can try GENTLY scrubbing. When you've gotten as much out as you think you're going to get out, wash as usual.
2006-07-15 4:55 pm
If the oil hasnt been totally absorbed yet, putting some baking powder of flour on top will soak up most of the oil before putting it to wash.
2006-07-15 4:53 pm
Nobody ever listens to me when I say this but Dawn Dish washing liquid. My mom had grease on her very expensive duvet cover and the dry clearer could not even get it out. I told her to try Dawn (It takes grease out of your way) She did wash it with the Dawn on the grease spots in cold water and it came out in the first wash.
2006-07-15 4:52 pm
Just rub lemon on it, press the area and then wash.

Or just lose lemon juice, and then wash.

The oil stains will come off.

Try putting some talcom powder over it and leave it for a few hours..it should absorb excess oil and the remaining powder can be dusted off.,....if still doesnt go away, getting the clothing drl cleaned would be the last resort ...good luck !

Spray with a eucalyptus based spray and then wash in COLD water. (after you've let the spray work for at least a minute). If you wash in hot water you set the oily stain. I only discovered this after years of setting oil stains in sweatshirts etc. Oh well, we live and learn :0

Basically as soon as a lil grease/cooking oil gets on your clothing
put it in a sink with oxy clean detergent and let it sit for at least a couple minutes. I know because I cook a lot. Grease from cooking bacon would pop right on me, when i'm wearing my favorite clothing. (another piece of advice) DON'T WEAR YOUR BEST CLOTHES TO COOK IN!
參考: Oxy clean is the best source of detergent to use, when it comes down to grease clothing.
2006-07-15 1:21 pm
If you haven't washed it. Try flour on the grease spots. or Talc powder would work too. This sucks up the grease then brush off flour and wash. There is a product I have used and it works great. It is called OOPS. It comes in a spray or liquid. It can be found at Walmart or any hardware store. it will not hurt clothing. Apply let set for awhile and then wash. Hairspray is good for removing ball point ink. Not Grease. Good Luck

citric acid like oranges, lime or lemons and hot water
2006-07-15 9:17 am
You need to soak it in an undiluted liquid soap solution for a couple of hours and then rinse it out with hydrogen peroxide.

Then, after rinsing it out, soak it in vinegar.

That will loosen up the oil and take the viscosity out of it. Then line dry it and don't put it in the dryer.

try to slice lemon juice and let it drip at the cooking oil stain.. Wait it to absorb the juice and wash it with lukewarm water together with low sud liquid soap like Breeze or Axion all purpose liquid soap.

2006-07-15 8:48 am
It happens to me a lot. Its one of those grandma's technique that actually works. First opportunity you get put some Talcum powder on the stain from both side of cloth. Dab the powder gently and leave it to absorb the oil. Then just wash it with any detergent or washing machine.

The talc absorbs the oil completely making the minor traces easy to be washed off.
2006-07-15 8:45 am
First don't wash or dry the clothing just yet. I have found that if you take 1 tablespoon of bleach and 1 cup of water using a Q-tip over the area takes most stains out. May not be good color clothes.
2006-07-15 8:45 am
soap and hot water

My husband and I own a restaurant and we are always getting grease and oil on our clothes that has soaked through the aprons. We use, as many others have suggested, Dawn dish soap. Just pre-treat it with Dawn for about an hour for something small, and 24 hours for a really big job.

I know this will sound odd, but if the Dawn Dishwashing liquid others have suggested does not work, take some Easy-Off oven cleaner and spray it on the stain. Once you have sprayed the oven cleaner on, put it in with your other laundry. It should do the trick if the Dishwashing liquid does not.

***WARNING!!!*** Never put DAWN Dishwashing liquid in a load of clothes which is being bleached with chlorine bleach! It causes a dangerous chemical reaction!
2006-07-15 7:20 am
LIQUID DISH SOAP
Works on almost any clothing stain that hasn't been washed and dried yet, especially oil or butter stains.
I don't use the more expensive laundry stain-removers any more. Just make sure you use light-colored dish soap, especially on light-colored fabrics.

I really like Oxyclean. Be sure to soak it in the right water temperature and leave it sitting overnight. After you soak it, wash it, but then hang dry it. The dryer will set the stain if you aren't careful. You can always soak it a second time to be sure - that usually does the trick for me.
2006-07-15 5:50 am
as long as you did not put it in the dry first you can wash it to get it out

You can remove any stain with either Lestoil or Pine Sol. Just pour a very little bit on the stain and rub it into the fabric. Wait a minute or two and wash the garment with the rest of your laundry. It's like magic. All stains are gone. If the stain is not completely gone repeat above.

It depends on what type of fabric it is. If it is cotton, you can hand wash the stain with original Dawn dish soap and then while it's wet, pack some baking soda on it and let the baking soda completely dry on it and form a "crust". Then wash with your regular load of laundry. If it's any other type of fabric, you maybe out of luck.
2006-07-15 5:11 am
soak it in dish soap for a while, work with it (kneading it and such) then put it straight in the washer in warm or hot... not cold... the heat makes the oil break down and seaperate

Put some Dawn dish on the spot and let sit for while and rub it around dawn really cuts grease. you might need to do it twice

Any liquid soap, left to soak a bit, rubbed in a bit, will do it, Dawn is especially good. Allowing things to dry in the sun will top that off beautifully.

If you have not washed it yet, use flour or baby powder on the spot - basically saturate the soiled area and allow the powder/flour to soak up the oil. Afterwards, shake off the powder and apply detergent directly to the area and rub it in, let it sit for an hour, then wash it in the hottest temperature water the garment will withstand.
2006-07-15 4:49 am
put baby powder on it, then wash it the day after..
2006-07-15 4:43 am
Two ways: really hot water and a little lemon juice and/or vinegar and

You have so many answers that I'm sure you won't even get this but try cornstarch right away. If you put cornstarch on it as soon as you do it and then go home and use your favriote stain remover and then wash it it may come out. Zout works so well I use it on all stains. I don't know anything that works better. It is a little pricey, but definitely worth it. After you spot the spot be sure not to let it dry before you wash the item. Also, rewash it right away if the spot should have the audacity not to come out the first time through the wash. Repeat as necessary -- I've never had to repeat more than once.

Good luck!

If it's white I spray with mean Green. otherwise regular stain stick and soak over night in two scoop of oxy clean and tide wash the next day and check the spots. Might take twice. If that doesn't do it I call it a cleaning rag. The quicker you fix it the better stains come out. :-)

I wanted to ask the same question.. thank u for asking I saved 5 points and got another two for this comment..lol

pour Dawn dishsoap on it. let it stay on over night then throw in washer
2006-07-15 2:05 am
Have you tried OxyClean...it works for me!

I would soak overnight first.
2006-07-15 2:04 am
put joy dish washing liquid on it, let it sit in for a while. takes any oil or grease out.even if you have already dried it.
2006-07-15 2:01 am
put cola on it. Sounds weird I know, but it does work!!
2006-07-15 1:59 am
Use a degrease and hot water, don't put in the dryer in case it did not come out, then when it dries if it is still there wash again with a degreaser. Once it has been in the dryer there isn't anything you can do.
2006-07-15 1:56 am
tide w/bleach alternative and a washing machine?
2006-07-15 1:49 am
I apply baby powder to the area and then wash with Lestoil all purpose cleaner.
2006-07-15 1:47 am
I don't know...maybe soke it in hot wtaer 4 2h.on then wash it!
2006-07-15 1:45 am
I put some baby powder on it and let it soak it up. Once I wash it with the rest of the laundry the oil stain is gone...it works for me everytime.
2006-07-15 1:31 am
Use Dawn dish soap on the oil spot, full strength....rub it in....then wash as usual. I'll be very surprised if that oil stain is still there when you dry it again. If the stain is still a little visible, repeat the process.

Hope that helps ^_^

If you've washed and dried the garmet already your too late but
generally any degreasing agent will work. One of the best things to get rid of grease is Dawn...squirt a little on the effected area with cold water.

USE BABY POWDER BEFORE USING ANY DE GREASER

OR OXY CLEAN

It's as easy as shampooing your Hair , put some clear shampoo on the effected spot ,dampen first though .Rub the shampoo into the oil stain let it sit for about 5 minutes the wash in your washing machine.
2006-07-15 12:55 am
any soap that has a degreaser in it, even man's hand cleaner will work!
2006-07-14 8:04 pm
Oxy clean powder works better than the spray
2006-07-14 6:59 pm
try DAWN Dish Soap-original scent.

Just scrub it then put it in the washer.

First, use Shout on it. Use the Shout that comes in the squeeze bottle, not the spray. Completely saturate the area. Let it sit for a while (30 mins.) Try scrubbing with chlorine or non-chlorine bleach depending on the fabric's color.Use a tiny bit, diluted with warm water,at first, just to make sure it doesn't harm the fabric in any way. Then apply more if needed(the stuff goes a long way), some hard scrubbing,so the oil molecules loosen up a bit, rinse and repeat...If it's a delicate piece of clothing take it to a professional...tom science

if bill clinton answers, dont listen, that man knows absolutely nothing about stain removal
2006-07-15 8:46 am
Depending on the material, I saw it done on tv. They poured hot water from a height over the stain. It softens the oil and then you can wash in warm soapy water.

I really think your cloth is ruined. the next time wear an aprel, or some sort of guard when you cook or are in the kitchen. I learned this from experience.
