Um, isn't thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) what stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroxine and calcitonin... which have nothing to do with pregnancy?

Maybe you're thinking of luteinizing hormone (LH) or follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Both of these are related to TSH and stimulate the ovaries and testes in some way or another.
