people didn't "come" from monkeys, and the bible doesn't make sense anyway.
1.- People didn't come from monkeys, but from a common primate ancestor.
2.- The story of Adam and Eve doesn't make sense at all, not only from this point of view, but also when you look for how long ago the Earth appeared or where do fossils fit in. The story of creation in the bible was a simple way to explain things more than 2000 years ago, when it was written (by MEN, remember that, no god took a pencil and started writing). Even the catholic church has accepted evolution, so that shouldn't be a problem.
By the way, I don't believe in god (as you'll have guessed) but my parents do and they believe in evolution also (and I respect their beliefs). I think for them is more important to focus in what the bible says about being a good person from christians' point of view.
參考: I'm a biologist.
The theory of evolution is not that complicated ... but start with the fact that evolutionists do *not* believe that "people came from monkeys", but rather that humans and monkeys have a common ancestor.
The Catholic church has accepted evolution:
"[The church] allows for the possibility that man’s body developed from previous biological forms, under God’s guidance, but it insists on the special creation of his soul." (Source given below.)
So I see the story of Genesis as describing not the biological origins of the human species, but rather, the story of the birth of the human soul, and its first fall from grace. According to doctrine, only humans have souls, and thus the soul could not be a product of biological evolution from non-human ancestors, but must be a direct gift ... a direct act of creation ... from God.
One thing is for sure ... don't let anybody convince you that you must choose between science *or* religion .. i.e. that you must reject one or the other. Both are very important to humans. Both are *very* powerful and when pitted against each other, one will lose. If they conflict, it is not because one or the other is "wrong" but because someone is trying to overlap their spheres ... e.g. using biology to argue how we should behave morally (which is a mistake) or using the Bible to argue what we should believe scientifically (which is also a mistake).
They are both true ... on completely different planes of thought.
Evolution is way more complicated than "people came from monkeys", so complicated in fact that most people would rather just believe in God than to hurt their brains by learning and thinking. Lots of stuff in the Bible makes perfect sense, but lots of it just allegory, fable and legend too.
If people came from monkeys, then *no*, the Bible does not make sense if you take it at face value.
You're going to get lots of conflicting answers on this one. You've heard about the evolution v. creationism debate, yes?
Yes, you can get to a compromise between evolution and creationism, but if you do that you can't take the Bible at face value.
I'm not Christian but I do belong to another religion, which I do *not* take at face value either heh.
For me, religion is about morals; anything beyond that, I just don't buy. I believe in a god but not in the "stories behind religions" (i.e. the Bible, the Quran, the Torah, etc.)
And if you're going to explain how the world and life came about, go for science. That's my view at least.

To Sleepingbee (one of the answerers): You obviously don't understand how evolution works. All members of a species (e.g. monkeys) don't turn into another (e.g. humans) together... only some members evolve while the others remain as they are or evolve into *another* form (e.g. chimpanzees, maybe).
And evolution happens by CHANCE; natural selection might favour one "evolved form" over another, but it doesn't necessarily let one live and let another die. Different species that are descendants of a common ancestor (e.g. humans, chimpanzees, and apes) can co-exist. Hope this clears things up (though if you're a creationist, there's no point in arguing with you because we base our arguments differently).
I think the two are refering to two different realms/worlds. One is the material world that science talks about and the other spiritual world - that religion talks about. Man the material being came from monkey the material animal/primate. Man the spiritual being, came from God the absoulte. Which explains why even when the material body dies, the spirit continues its journey into other worlds/realms like heaven etc. Life as man, the animal, ends but life as man the spirit continues ...
I heard that a lot, but let me tell you the fact.
There are no scientific books that claims Humans are from monkeys.
It said that humans and Apes or "monkeys" as you called them "might" have a similar ancestor, they might come from the same Hominoidea Family.
BTW, don't ever use myth to describe science. :-)
people didnt come from monkeys monkeys didnt come from people gods not real and the bible is crap made from trees
I don't know what to believe any more scientist say 1 thing and the Bible says something else. Don't get me wrong i believe i god,Jesus but really a guy with all these power to create things by a snap of his fingers i don't know? An if he is real y didn't he give us the urges to kill and steal if its a sin to do so. An y did he put the tree there if it had apples that we could not have. I really don't know what to be leave. God could be real and then again he could be just ower imaginations.
But i hope he is real and i didn't real come from a monkey even tho i have a urge for a banana right now lol jk. But know one really knows.
But the worst thing about it is...1...1of them is right!
Such a hard topic to even begin to explain but obviously is one to confuse many bec if you believe the monkey theory then Where is God? We would have to believe one or the other.
here's a simple theory...Adam and Eve were simply ape-monkeys.
People didn't come from monkeys, because the Bible says that man was created by God.
people didn't come from monkey's - that's just the theory of evolution - people were created by God (Adam and Eve) so of course the bible makes perfect sense in this light
PEOPLE DO NOT COME FROM MONKY'S! if we did then there would be no monkeys or there would be no people!....makes sense doesn't it?
