The churches have, for thousands of years, spouted that the bible says that the faithful must support their religion. People being as gullible as they are, believe this and pay extraordinary amounts of money to the church thinking that they will be admitted to heaven for their good behavior. Mind you the same bible bashers that ask for money don't mind bending children over for their own sexual gratification. I believe in God, but I don't believe in the depraved rantings of any religion

Banks turn down churches and ministers all the time. Churches go through the same credit tests individuals go through. Churches have one advantage however, they are cooperative associations so their credit is based upon their revenues of the members cooperating together. A church that could afford a million dollar building has a huge donor base. Most likely, a handful of people are guaranteeing that debt personally.

Church loans are commercial loans. Banks look at operating expenses, fluctuations in donations, and the vitality of the community to make certain it will survive to pay the loan off.

Individuals are turned down at a very high rate. The people who most need credit are the least likely to receive it. Banks only lend to those they are nearly 100% certain will repay them. This creates a problem for those most in need because their ability to pay is the reason they need credit in the first place.

I used to monitor credit acceptance and denials at a commercial bank and we declined 90% of the requests that came in the door. Banks loan their depositors money and must know with certainty that the depositors who have put their money in checking or savings will have it when they need it. They cannot take chances with money because it doesn't belong to them.

Religion is big buisness first and foremost.
Churches sell what does not exist.
And they know it.

Church's are turned down for loans too.
A banks loan is dependent on the borrows credit and financial capability only.
Stop making a problem where there is none!

...cha ching...churches get the biggest tax breaks...they have equity in their properties, and probably qualify for loans that are available for "non-profits."

It doesn't always happen that easily, though it seems that way, doesn't it? I know a brand new church in our community just received a loan to fix up an old church building. It took a long time for that loan to go through. They still wouldn't be able to do it, except some members have connections to electrical needs and lumber needs. I believe some places will use churches as a tax write-off, too. You can't write off a normal person, but a church is fair game. I think the loan process is pretty fair, it doesn't matter how prepared you are, if you have the right connections it will be easy.
