It has been said that the 20th century was the bloodiest and most violent century, a century of revolutions, civil wars and world wars. What was the driving force behind the world's confliscts, was it technology, clash of idea imperialism or something else?

Both world wars were in the 20th century. Also the wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, etc. I think that most wars start as someones freedom of religion is denied.

Something else and all of the above.

Some creatures possess a mental mechanism that drives them to dislike and kill those who are not genetically identical to themselves or at least very closely related. It is probably there to aid in self preservation of the kind.

To counter this mechanism is another trait, where opposites characteristics attract, this aids some creatures maintain some level of biodiversity. This in turn, helps these creatures in self preservation.

Combined with the desire to propagate and technology, we have witnessed some of the bloodiest times, in the past century.

Technology, it allowed for an "offensive" war rather than the stalemates they used to have in WWI. More than 50 million people have been systematically murdered in the past century (genocide). Man has always wanted to be on top, they've always wanted to be the best, they've always wanted to be king or ruler. Mao Zedong killed 30 million of his own people, 8,000 Tutsis were killed a day during a 3 month period during the Rwandan genocide.

The weapons were available to kill many people with ease and powerful nations used them in their struggle to dominate others.

E=MC2. War is a drop in the bucket when it comes to this equation and the 20th century came very close to using it.

In 1914 the devil was banished from heaven and confined to the earth he knows he has a short time and seeks to devour as many as he can befor he is destroyed. ther is no doubt that he controls the governments of this world, when Jesus was in the desert ,temted by the devil he was offered all the kingdoms of the earth if he would bow down and do an act of worship to the devil . not much of a temptation if they were not his to offer
