How does Indian attitude toward drinking wine? Pro or Cons?

I love drinking wine. French wines are my favorite. Most recently I tasted the Indian wine Sula and I loved it. It's fantastic, no less of quality and taste compared to world class wines. I must say, wine drinking in India hasn't caught up primarily due to (a)social taboo; (b) economic factors and (c) lack of good marketing efforts by the wine makers. Perhaps they are concentrating on exports rather than domestic consumption.

Well , I'm an Indian. Yeah, well. People do have big issues when it concerns alcohol. Due to religious beliefs. Its considered a big sin. Be it in hindu religion or muslim. People here think that wine is an animals urine. ( Um, I don't really know where they got that from ). So , oh well. The bottomline is they prefer colddrinks over alcohol. Except in high-societies. There they consume it profusely.

im not INDIAN but most of my indian friends prefer to drink beer than wines, they love light beers, i know one who loves to drink wine hes so pro in drinking wine i mean he knows how old is the wine after he try to taste..

Well I am of Indian origin and I like to drink wine. In fact I also take beer and other alcoholic drinks

Alcohol per se until recent times ( and still in major parts) in India is considered as a bad habit..

but the present gen has changed it all and also the growing socialites who don't mind a drink or two..but even they prefer drinks like scotch, beer, etc..

but off late with many wine brands available, the so called socialites too are preferring wine as a status symbol..not to forget the health benefits..

personally i have never had wine..but may wish to taste it.

INDIANS DO NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH DRINKING WINE UNLESS IT IS A HABITUAL THING.
