Why does my cat sometimes bring me a present?

The other day my cat Nikki brought a scrap sheet of paper and layed it down in front of my door apparently as a gift. Do cats do this in the wild?

Cats definitely give their owners gifts (you're lucky it wasn't a dead mouse). However, a piece of paper isn't usually a gift a cat will bring.

However, my cats like to bring me their toys so that I will play with them. This isn't always a conventional toy. Sometimes they have found something they think is interesting and want to bring it to your attention. Try playing around with it a bit with them. They obviously like you enough to share their toys with you.

That is so cute!!! Your kitty is a good kitty because she respects you by showing you her prey!

OH! She's sharing with you! She is grateful for the food you provide for her, and she loves you! Always thank her. Peaches brought me a thoroughly dead gopher, and laid it on my pillow! I woke up screaming!...... Hope that doesn't happen to you......
