Yes it would be hard because the tenor takes more air than the alto. Start on the alto saxophone, it is easier, most beginners start on it. When I started sax, I started on alto, I am switching to tenor soon. I started in 2008. If you play flute, it will be a peace of cake. The tenor requires a relaxed embouchure. Tenor requires more experience on saxophone. The difference is that on tenor and other alto saxophones you use a reed on the mouthpiece to make sounds. You need to roll your lower lips when you play the alto saxophone or other saxes. A mouthpiece is attached to the neck of the saxes. When you blow through any sax, you need to open your throat, like if you were yawning.. It will sound terrible, but it will take time for you to start. You also need to breathe from your stomach. You will also need to start on a strength 2 reed with a close tip mouthpiece - I recommend you start with a Yamaha 4C Mouthpiece. There is this thing called a ligature, you fit it around the mouthpiece and it holds the reed.
