i joined a gym, but i still cant seem to lose any weight, what should i do?

How are you eating? YOu have to diet as well if you want to lose weight. Check out www.sparkpeople.com for help.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

Health Food and Exercise can help.
Keep jogging half hour to an hour in the morning and evening everyday. Keep eating white meat and vegetable.
Throw out all the rubbish food and drinks.
Get enough sleep and happy life.

Don't expect going gym for a few hour per week can lose weight

As muscle is a denser tissue than fat it weighs more!

You probably ARE losing fat, but as you are building muscle at the same time it won't show on the scales. One place your results WILL show however is on the tape measure. So measure yourself all over - (well, nearly all over ;o])

Okay, let's go through the check list of measurements you need to take:- neck, chest, midriff, waist, hips (across bone), hips (at widest part) thighs, left & right, calf, l&r, biceps, l&r, and forearms, l&r.

Now you have a 'picture' of yourself you can see how the shape of that picture is changing as you exercise.

How long have you been training in the Gym???
Try these:
1. Go on a Vegetable/Salads and Protein diet, no carbo-hydrates for lunch.
2. Do not eat heavy dinners at nights, but fruits and liquid, preferably water, no imported fruit drinks.
3. Try to eat a light breakfast - no white bread. Use wheat instead, one slice or better yet a bowl of salads (tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber).
4. Use the treadmill at the gym before you start exercising.
5. Do some weight training. Whilst you are doing cardio vascular exercises, you will lose the fat and by doing weight training you will give tone to the muscle tissues.
6. Drink lots of water, not cold, but cooled.
7. Eat no pizzas after the gym.
8. Do interval training - walk or run very fast, then medium paste, then very fast, then slow for a minute and pick up again. Be consistent and you will see results.

Everytime you want a snack have fruit.
Drink AT LEAST eight glasses of water a day.
Don't have meat/fish with pasta/potato/rice in the same meal.
Try substituting Quorn for meat every now and then.
Cut down on bread/dairy, but don't give it up completely.
Do light weights with more reps than pumping iron.
Try fat-free options in everything (yoghurt etc).
Don't starve yourself - that'll slow down your metabolism.
Try to have your last meal before 6pm.
Get lots of sleep.
Don't dwell on it, it'll make you worse.
These are all Slimming World tips which DO WORK (wish I'd stuck to it!!!)

muscle weighs more than fat. don't worry so much about losing weight. if you're working out, then that is enough. dieting slows down metabolism. recently i decided to eat what ever i feel like eating. i have lost ten pounds in a couple weeks.

Your diet is an important thing to consider in conjunction with exercise. Decreasing the amount of calories you intake can greatly increase the effects of increased exercise. Also make sure that you are including aerobic exercise, not just weight lifting. Aerobic (such as walking/running) exercise should be done for at least 30 min. three days a week for fat loss.

Simple physics. If you consume more calories than you use up then you will gain weight. If you consume less calories than you use up, you will lose weight.

So if you want to lose weight, you can either eat less calories, or use more up (ie do more exercise at the gym).

Most people recomend a mixture of CV stuff like running with a good weights routine.

Make an appointment with your gym's personal trainer- they can show you a great workout routine that will work for you.

stop sitting on your asz, and dont eat alot. dont lift weight beacuse it will only creat you mass. just run and do things like boxing, jumping jax, running, pushups.

It really depends on what you are doing while at the gym and how your eating habits are. Make sure to burn more calories than you take in, whatch your fats (trans and saturated), and sugars in what you eat.

You should try excersising on the machines and eating healthier;-) I'm pretty sure it'll work
