Why do people have the need to be negative?

I will usually play devil's advocate if I see someone being blindly optimistic, even if I actually happen to agree with the point of view.
I don't consider it a NEED to be negative but, a need to be objective.
Blind optimism is just as bad as blind pessimism, and I'll argue a point either way if I feel the proposed idea isn't thouroughly represented in both the pro and the con.

Physics?? Maybe they are negative electrical charged.

I agree with Catherineskt. Some people just are not happy with themselves or their own lives (whether they would admit to it or not), and that negativity permeates to the way they think and talk about other things.

If someone makes you feel anything but good when you see them, don't see them anymore. It's not worth having a friend or spouse that makes you feel lousy. The point of having others around us is for our mutual benefit and emotional support. If one of the two (you) is not benefiting but hurting, then that defeats the purpose. Do not feel obligated to be someone's friend if they make you feel bad.

cause alot of people talk alots of s*** & people can just let them talk to them anyhow they want 2 ,so they need
2 stick up 4 theyself cause then people start 2 think ur a punk & then they will start 2 pick on u so its important 2 learn how 2 fight .

have have nothing better to do with their lives but try to mess up anybody eles

I wonder why... I am too negative almost of the time... maybe it is because nothing goes as we planned...

because they are unhappy themselves. usually they need some way to let off steam so they take it out on someone else.
