If a guy really loves you, what will he do if you just disappear?

If a guy really loves you or says he really loves you, but you are sick of his antics (lying, drama, days to call back when he says I'll call you right back, says schedule is too full to see you, etc.) and you decide to just stop calling, not return his phone calls, basically disappear, what will he do? Will it drive him nuts? Is this a good way to see if he really loves me or has just been stringing me along with lies?
